Doctrinal aspects of mirandian thought: Continental Unity
Keywords:
Francisco de Miranda, American unity, Identity, Continental integration, Political ideasAbstract
This article studies the doctrinal thought of Sebastián Francisco de Miranda, addressing his theoretical plans to achieve the independence of all the territories of Hispanic America, as a single confederal state. The Mirandino plan was intended to break ties with the Hispanic monarchy, and in turn raised the need to build a unitary state, or an American confederation. That is why Miranda is considered one of the most prominent ideologues of the political thought of the unity of Spanish America, a product of his contributions to the spiritual and material formation of the nation-states of South America. The approach to this work was through a descriptive-analytical methodology, concluding that their contributions were significant for the development of a philosophical conception that was followed by the main thinkers of the Region, from the 19th century, and the beginning of the 20th century.
